The spirit of discovery is part of our past and present
If you'd like the fire lit in the lounge to spend a little time in there, please just ask. It is available to residents as a sitting area.
Built in the early 19th Century, this was formally the mine manager’s house back in 1820. It has obviously been modernised and renovated since, but we wanted to retain all the feel and heritage reminiscent of the period, hence naming the rooms after the pioneers who lived and work here.
This is particularly apparent in our lounge area, which would have been the main drawing room in that Georgian era, although you could be mistaken for thinking it has a very Victorian feel.
Guests are welcome to make themselves at home in the lounge, and we will happily light the fire for you if you ask on cooler days. Here we have a range of pictures on show depicting Strontian at that time, so it's a place where you can sit and soak up all the atmosphere of that bygone era.
The original owners were clearly ahead of their time back then, and the spirit of entrepreneurship and discovery continues in our ethos and is at the heart of the Strontian Hotel even to this day.
We have more about the history of the hotel and area on our history page.
We hope you love our beautiful hotel as much as we do.
Check-in time is from 4.00pm until 9.00pm. Please go to the hotel reception for your keys. If you need an earlier check-in time then please give us a call and we will do our best to accommodate your request. We would also ask for payment at the time of check-in unless you have pre-paid, ideally a debit card or cash. Credit card payments can be accepted but would incur a 2% charge. Small well-behaved dogs are welcome in selected rooms for a small charge, and can also join you in the Bothy Bar so if you plan to bring one please check with us first and we will help make that easier for you.
Our bedrooms all have en-suite facilities and offer guests a wonderfully clean and comfortable stay with thoughtful extras to help you really enjoy your experience such as bottled water, a hot drinks tray with welcome snacks, and aromatic handcrafted toiletries from the Sunart Soap Co, adding a spa-like feel to the en-suites. Tourist information material is in the rooms and also available at reception.
